Bravo February. You made it. And if you stay sunny and pleasant like this, we're happy to have you. The change of month seems to have brought its fair share of music to the city this weekend, including the 9th edition of the Féstival Voix D'Amériques (a tastefully curated showcase featuring spoken word, poetry and more). We also talk about livin' on a prayer, secret shows and spherical mattresses.

It seems like Montreal's various music scenes are finally, officially, back from the holidays. There are more shows this week than we can shake a stick at (yes, that was us you saw running rampant down your street, waving branches and other stick-like objects). Join us as we sift through the chaos. Making things even more exciting, a Concordia video crew drops in on the studio to film us "in action". They haven't said anything, but I'm pretty sure they're making the 4D sequel to Avatar.

We're back with another dose of musical poutine for you. This week's serving is definitely one of our messiest in a while, since we try and add a splash of hip hop and power jazz to our regular base of rock and folk. Join us in our audio kitchen for another sonic concoction. Bring your own Slap Chop.

Happy 2010 folks. We know the year started two weeks ago, but the Midnight Poutine Podcast has been on an extended vacation (i.e. we're lazy). We're back though, and excited to get another year of delicious music off on the right foot. There are a bunch of good shows that promise to snap you out of your winter comas, including Igloofest, Indyish's Dance Mess or Indie Montreal's Grand Analog show. We hope your new year's resolution wasn't to stay home more often.

It's the last podcast before the holidays. We know, we know. It makes us sad too. In fact, we spent the bulk of this podcast crying in our eggnog. Luckily, there are plenty of great shows in town this week to keep the holiday spirits up (including the always eventful Indyish Monthly Mess). So yeah, enjoy what's left of '09. We'll talk at you on the flipside.

The Midnight Poutine podcast has a lot to celebrate this week. The glorious return of previously ailing co-host Greg Bouchard, the Montreal Alouette's nail-biting Grey Cup victory and, of course, the last rush of live shows before the holiday break. As regular purveyors of music recommendations, we suggest you spend all the money you have set aside for xmas presents on music gigs, and give your family and friends the gift of love instead.

It's almost December and here at Midnight Poutine headquarters, we're freaking out. Where did the year go? Why did our parents lie to us about Santa? Still, we try our best to get into the holiday spirit with a pretty Christmas carol, some jolly banter, and even a gift. Yup. We've got tickets to give away for one of this weekend's stand-out shows: Darling Ghost and Hannah Speirs at the Green Room on Saturday (courtesy of the good folks at Indie Montreal). Take a listen to the podcast for more details.

It's another busy weekend for music here in the city. The fourth edition of M for Montreal gets underway tonight with a swanky (yet open to the public) cocktail party. Aging alt-rockers The Cranberries bring their reunion tour to town and Priestess unleash their new album with an MTL launch party. As if that wasn't enough, we've even got a band that's doing an online tour, and today they stop here. I know that makes little sense, but Candy Claws can do whatever they want, so long as they keep making music this lush and dreamy.

It's practically summer here in Montreal, so you have no excuse not to get out this weekend and enjoy some shows. Since this good weather has caught some people unprepared, we remind you to bring certain essentials: shades, a broad-brimmed sun hat, and tan lotion, #4 for that perfect almost-burnt look. We also recommend wearing your bikini (man-kinis for the guys).

It's H1N1 pandemonium here in Montreal. And while we at Midnight Poutine are in no way licensed health professionals or qualified to give any medical advice, we're pretty confident that regular doses of our weekly podcast will help keep you healthy this flu season. There's no line ups, no coupons, and no priority lists. Just pure glorious music available to everyone, right now.

This week, it's a special Halloween edition of the Midnight Poutine Podcast. We talk about dumb costume ideas and scary musicians while we sort through our loot bag of assorted audio treats. Whether you're planning to dress up or get down this weekend, make sure to add a dose of poutine to your festivities.

Of all the podcasts we have done here at Midnight Poutine, this one is by far the most recent. Greg Bouchard joins me as we sort out through a random smattering of tunes from bands playing around Montreal this week. With our interminable banter, it's almost as exciting as the municipal election campaigns going on. Almost.
